Rudraprayag – Rafting Shivpuri – Rishikesh - Haridwar (155 kms 7 hrs) Early Morning: After breakfast, drive downhill to Rishikesh, a spiritual city and the Yoga capital of the world. You may opt to enjoy adventure activities like river rafting, among others. Upon reaching Rishikesh, you will go for sightseeing, visiting Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula. In the evening, drive to Haridwar. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel. Rishikesh: Located 25 km upstream on the banks of the Ganga, where it meets the Chandrabhaga River, Rishikesh is a holy town. Literally meaning "Rishi's locks," this small town is the point where the holy Ganges crashes down onto huge boulders, creating long stretches of white sandy beaches. The banks are lined with ashrams, where saints and holy men rested before beginning their pilgrimage up into the snow-covered lands of the gods. Rishikesh is essentially a combination of five districts: Rishikesh (the commercial center), Muni-ki-reti (the quiet suburbs), Shivananda Nagar (to the north), Lakshman Jhula (with its holy shrines), and Swarg Ashram (where most of the ashrams are located). Swarg Ashram Swarg Ashram, with its numerous ashrams, food stalls, and shops, is a popular spot for those seeking religious insights. The newly constructed Ram Jhula crosses the Ganga at this point. Ferries also run during the day for river crossings. Important shrines and ashrams in Swarg Ashram include Kali Kumbliwale, founded by Swami Vishudhananda, Parmarth Niketan (which houses large statues of gods and goddesses), and Gita Bhavan (which has an Ayurvedic dispensary and a shop selling religious books and cotton Khadi). Lakshman Jhula: About 2 km upstream is the old footbridge, Lakshman Jhula, named after Lord Rama’s brother. Temples line both sides of the river at Lakshman Jhula. Muni-ki-reti: To the northeast lies the area of Muni-ki-reti, along the banks of the Chandrabhaga River. This area, with its secluded white sandy beaches, is ideal for swimming. Boat rides on the river near Swarg Ashram provide a pleasant diversion, and you can feed the fish that gather around the pilgrims who throw balls of wheat flour into the waters.
